Useful Tips When Using Camtasia

For an activity that my part of a video I find much to make a few problems. Here are some of the problems I found:

Smoothness Conditions
Audio Interference
Audio Quality
Audio dropout
WMV format is Essential Description and corrections:

Smoothness Conditions
Initially it is very difficult to make a smooth transition of verbal description of events. Do not despair! - Is this problem away enough to do an acceptable job. Here are some tips:

Itis worth writing an actual script, which clearly distinguishes between "director" and "narrative". Print this script, or, if possible, these then on a second monitor. The idea is not to notice you, the red script, but the details of the terminology that you want to use data set (eg the difference between "project" and "package") to ensure that your presentation has a good logical flow, and operations with the mouse in a clean way around, so you do not constantly changeback and forth between different windows in a manner that is confusing for the viewer.

This is a good job for programmers - it is no longer as we always try our algorithms!
Practice many times. If you do, you will notice that the job "takes you halfway." You will quickly notice the order of things that you want to explain, and you will find that you fill in the bits between on the fly, in your own words, in a way that sounds very natural and conversationalif you play it back. Expect to get your script a little bit after each attempt to change - especially the order of the mouse operations, which sometimes requires a reorganization of the logical flow of your statements.
Do not start talking at the moment you click the Camtasia record button, or press F10 (stop stop recording), the immediate word with you. It seems Camtasia take a few seconds to start and stop recording sure you click (or recording to stop talking), and silently count "one, two,three, "before you speak (or press F10 to start).
The F9 key is your friend. Press F9, and will pause the recording. Press F9 again to resume recording. Do not wait until you tonge tied and confused, before you press it - there is a strange kind of paralysis, the kicks and makes finding F9 hard. As you practice you will soon learn where the natural breaks where you can browse your script, take a deep breath, and in organizing your next paragraph in your mind.
Remember that everyone is going to oneGet to practice until you pass that you are satisfied. Also, remember that you can hear every little mistake - the question is, will the viewers noticed something? Go into a quiet and private place to practice, if you feel less self-conscious.Audio suppression
The capture Camtasia Recorder control (with the "select area" button) offers some interesting items:

Audio Quality
All available codecs, with the exception of "MPEG Layer-3 (TechSmith LAME) '

In the Camtasia Recorder to capture control (with the "Select Area" button). Select "Tools / Options ..., click the Audio tab, click the Audio Format button and select format, such as LAME. Audio dropout
LAME codec is the only good, but it is a problem in itself. When recording sequences more than a few seconds, I found that the sound would suddenly disappear in the finished product. This does not happen in the Camtasia player that starts with the production, but in the final WMV file happened when I checked carefully. The others have audio codecs do not seem toProblem, however, produce insufficient quality.

Google finds many pages of Camtasia audio problems and a common proposal is to use a USB microphone instead of one, in the analog sound card connectors. This morning I plugged in a USB microphone and made a WMV with excellent sound quality, not the not disappear after a few seconds.

After Windows, the microphone is detected, it can be selected in the Camtasia Recorder Control window (with"Select the" add-button), Tools / Options ..., Audio tab, where the audio format key is found.

WMV format is Essential

Close all applications
Disable the screen saver
Disconnect the cable network
do nothing and let Camtasia 100% of CPU! In the end, still playing the file in Windows Media Player and check that is entirely up to the last frame!

With regard to AVI files
AVI files will be problems when in Windows Media Player, the voice played at the beginning of affectedexist, they do not use it.

In relation to Flash files
I found no particular problems with Flash. Flv video files.

Customer Review: Nice form, weak execution
I was very pleased when I opened the box and found a nice chunky, seemingly heavy duty microphone. The hardware is well crafted with good fit and finish. I plugged it in and it self installed quickly and without incident. Now, having tested the microphone for several voice only projects using multiple software applications, the quality of recordins was poor at best. In all cases the volume was VERY low, tinney, and digitized. To eliminate the possibility of computer malfunction or software limitations, I tested this on three computer with two different software applications all with the same results. I would not reccomend this solution.

For multitrack recording, this mic is useless. It shuts off all other sound coming from the computer. For multitrack recording, you need to listen to previously recorded tracks while adding more tracks. With this mic it is impossible. I have other USB mics that work just fine. Whoever designed this device was not real intelligent.

Wow, what a difference! I am a Dragon Naturally Speaking user. I really like the product. However, whenever there is background noise, Dragon Naturally Speaking stops working. So, I bought the TP100 by VXIParrott. Not only does Dragon Naturally Speaking now work even when there is background noise, but about 90% of the errors that used to occur when I used the old headset (the one that came with Dagon Naturally Speaking) have disappeared. It's wonderful! I am a Windows Vista user. The setup for the headset was a no-brainer. I plugged it into my Sony Vaio laptop and about 30 seconds later my machine was ready to go. We use this camera to share my baby's life with my over seas parents, the only issue I have with it is the LED lights come on as we turn off lights even if the computer is off. So it feels like a spy thing, we solved with dark cloth like a little bird.

The big concern with USB microphones is whether they get the gain right. Since USB is a digital signal, the audio digitizer has to be built into the microphone itself. If the gain is too high, and you get digital distortion, which is horrible. If it is too low, you get lots of noise. The designers of this mic picked just the right amount of input gain. This mic is perfect for voice. No, you won't get the nice, bassy proximity effect that you might get from many microphones, but you will get perfect clarity, excellent sensitivity (it easily picks up ambient sound when nobody is talking), and extremely low self-noise. This mic works perfectly with Skype, with your mouth about 12 to 18 inches from the mic (though using earphones is recommended, since this mic WILL pick up sound coming through your speakers.) Again, a very quiet (un-noisy), very clear mic, and since it is USB, the sound quality is totally independent of your computer's sound card (most of which are not very good). These qualities also make this mic ideal for voice recognition applications. The only drawback is that you don't get a lot of bass sound. So don't expect to sound like an FM DJ through this mic. But you will be heard loud and clear. Also good to know is that this mic is NOT meant for hand-held use. Handling noise will be very audible. The built-in MUTE button is a nice feature.

Customer Review: Worst build quality ever seen.
I bought this to conduct interviews with Skype. Literally 20 seconds out of the box I was adjusting the microphone and it broke in two. I can see the problem, very cheap components inside and old, brittle glue with tiny solder points to keep the microphone attached. Just junk... I've used dozens of headsets like this one and most of them perish from old age. This is the first one I've ever broken by adjusting and in the first moments of use no less. Cannot recommend against purchasing this unit strongly enough. It's back to Plantronics for me.
Customer Review: remember the good and the bad before buying this...
This stereo headphone-microphone USB set from Rocketfish has its plusses and minuses. It is well constructed and I have a feeling that this will last me a long time. Even the wiring connecting the earphones to the USB port is well constructed. The quality of the sound is excellent when I watch a movie on my portable laptop; and the earphones are extremely comfortable; they practically fit over my entire ears and this is quite good. On the other hand, there's that elasticized band. Yep, that band. Instead of just letting the headset rest somewhat loosely (or more loosely) on your head, Rocketfish decided to manufacture these headsets with microphone with an elasticized band in between your head and the top of the headset. Frankly, I find the band to be constricting; and after about an hour of watching a movie the band begins to make my head ache! I'm considering cutting off the band with scissors to make the headset more comfortable. Sheesh! I guess I might cut the band on just one end to see if this makes this more comfortable for me. That way it might be easier to repair the band if I actually surprise myself and decide I want the band after all! The headset and microphone come with a multilingual instruction booklet that spells everything out although for many people it will be intuitive as to how to use the volume control and more. The volume control is extremely easy and the microphone lets your voice carry to another person's computer quite well. Overall, this stereo headset and microphone combo is a good product that could stand some improvement to make it even better. Remember the good and the bad before you decide to purchase this item.

Customer Review: Great Mic
I bought this mic to use for voice over work from my home. You can spend up to $5,000 for a pro mic, which I did not want to do. I did a lot of research on various USB condenser mics, and settled on this one, based on other reviews, cost, and simplicity. I was not disapointed. It is just as described...plug and play. The stand that comes with the mic stinks. It puts the mic off balance, and the smallest tap, will tip it over. If you are going to do it right, you need to buy a good short stand with a heavy base (about $25). You will also need a shock mount ($45), and a pop filter ($20). So when all is said and done, you really need close to $100 in extras to do it right. You can download Audacity (at www.audacity.com) for free. This is a great recording program, which allows you to record, edit, and add tracks...like background music. The only thing that I noticed is that I need to get really close to the mic to get the best sound, but that is not a big deal. If you need an inexpensive mic for voice recording, this is it!

It isn't really a con that this mic doesn't record in stereo. Since it records everything at once, stereo and mono would be exactly the same here. You can split the mono track into stereo, and then edit both sides of the track individually.

The pros is u dont need to have any mixer in order to record via computer. but the cons are there is a humming sound which goes on which is a bit audible and this product for mono recording not for stereo recording....but its always accepted for a home recording or studio recording in some cases.

I purchased a camera. The camera is amazing. It has great options to adjust picture and lighting. I've been very impressed with the camera for the cost. An excellent purchase for an average to occaisional user of the web cam. I've been satisfied with the overal performance of the web-cam. A few things to make note of in case you have children or pets: The item's balance is wobbly so that if you accidentally bump it, it will fall over. Customer Review: A great microphone for home studios.
After reading the reviews and carefully putting it to thought, I bought this microphone in hopes that I would be able to record my piano compositions. And those hopes were fulfilled. This product records crystal clear (so clear that it sounds like I went to a professional recording studio!) and it's easy to use; just plug it into your USB port and record. However, one drawback is that it tends to easily catch small noises, such as clicks or noises that are going on in your house/apartment/etc. Therefore, recording in a dead-silent room would be the best thing to do. Unfortunately for me, I have to record in a room that's always busy. Customer Review: Beautiful, though overpriced
I got this from another store, where I had gift certificates, but still, the price could be better. It is certainly worthy of 5 stars though, in every other regard. We bought a 46" LCD and it looks perfect on this stand. I would not recommend anything over 47" or anything under 42" for a TV. The stand is a nice black, and while not all wood, it LOOKS very nice, and expensive. We had no defective pieces upon recieiving it, and assembly took about an hour and a half, with my husband doing 99% of it by himself. The glass doors add a really nice touch and the little round floral emblem on the bottom really adds to the look of it. It is very classy and traditional, but with a touch of modern with the clean black color. The height of it is really nice too, not too tall, not too short. I would highly recommend this stand to anyone.

Customer Review: The wrong microphone was sent
I ordered two of the C03UCW microphones and I was sent two of the C01U's - it is a different microphone. I wanted the one shown here. The vendor offered to refund my money and said that it was a mistake made by Amazon. I needed the microphones for a project and did not have time to return them. I don't have too much experience on this type of microphone to make extensive/professional review. I just started playing with Garageband/pod cast and use Skype and wanted to improve the sound input. Compare to the other mini microphones I've used, this is HUGE and heavy, solidly built. Connection is easy, just plug in the USB and the Mac recognizes it. To my not so experienced ears, it sounds better than iSight, built-in mics, and the Sony mic that requires an AA battery and a pre-amp. Well-made, good sound, easy to use. 5-star for the prize/package/performance.

This product is well marketed! I asked my self, "How can this be so inexpensive with all these features?" Well, it is easy. The huge lack of documentation on the product says one thing. Then when you install the driver (on Win XP Pro SP2) and you get a message from Windows that the driver is not signed for Windows Logo compatibility and the docs tell you to just forge on, that should be a huge warning. Also, as cute as the "VP-Eye" software sounds that comes with the webcam, I got the blue screen of death as soon as it was installed. Also, there is no product return/technical support information offered. I was hopeful as I am on limited income. So much for a decent product for the lower class. In the end, you get what you pay for.

Customer Review: You might just consider the snowflake
As you would expect from Blue, the sound quality of the microphone is great. It is a fuller and richer sound compared to the built in mic in my MacBook Pro. The camera, however, is not. Based on the specs I got from Blue, the camera records at 1280x1024...the same resolution as you can find in newer MacBook Pros (and perhaps other models as well). From my limited experience so far, I think that the isight on my MacBook Pro offers a better image than the eyeball. So, if you have a webcam built in, do the research and find out what your resolution is. You might be better off just spending less on the snowflake, which offer the small microphone, but no camera.

Customer Review: Works, but not very rugged.
I was very happy with this unit the first few days, and then in popped in half. It still works, but I had to tape it back together. (This was not from abuse; it's just simple plastic that snaps together and it's awkward enough getting it in and out of a microphone stand with a Shure mic that a bit of pressure was all it took.) Audio quality was okay, but I kept having problems with distortion, Going back to my M-Audio Ozone was much much nicer -- so it's probably the cheapness of the MicPlug. For the price, though, it's hard to beat and I'm glad I have it (if it had not snapped in two ;-).

Customer Review: Convenient and flawless performance on a Mac - truly plug and play
I've been a home recordist for about 30 years. I've owned a variety of mics, from old Crown PZMs to higher-end Audio Technicas and a few exotic Germans. These days, I don't do as much recording as I did when I had dreams of becoming the next Nils Lofgren, but I occasionally like to doodle with music. These days, I'm a great believer in the ease and rock steady performance of Garageband on the Mac. I honestly much prefer working with it, rather than many "better" programs out there. It's just so solid on the mac. The reason for this long intro is just to introduce my approach to recording. I want stuff that works, and that works with little muss or fuss. When I sold of my last AT stereo mic and E-MU 4040 preamp, I thought I was done with wrestling with wires and recording. Well, I caught the bug again lately and felt guilty about ridding myself of all my equipment. But I wanted ease and convenience and I started researching the USB mics out there. I listened to about every sample available, and I was fairly sure the MXL mic were worth investigating further. They have a rich, full-bodied sound which I like. They also seemed to suffer less from ambient noise than the Snowball and Sansom mics. The MXL sounded a little darker, which some might think meant a bit deader, but I was sure that wouldn't be the case when it came down to recording. And I was right. First of all, the .006 works flawlessly. I plugged it it. My mac recognized it and I was up and rolling without latency. Occasionally you'll get hit with latency in Garageband -- but that usually just requires a restart. Then it's gone. The MXL was up and running in less than a minute. No problem getting enough power from my USB port, something I even had problems with with an old Belkin USB mic adapter. No, the MXL worked great. It's fairly well made, the only "suspect" component being the gain switch, which is pretty inexpensive and felt a little unsure. But it works fine, so I wasn't too worried about it. Plus, look at the price of this mic. The sound? Well, I would rate it an 8.75, which I think is quite flattering. I was able to mic myself singing with my guitar amp about 8 feet way and achieve a nice mix. And it recorded my 5-year old's faint, faint whisper (too shy to talk into the mic) perfectly. Stunningly, actually. So this mic is actually capable of great detail and sensitivity when your hitting it within its working range. Not dead sounding at all. I really like it's balance and design which make for quick and easily recordings without a whole lot of tweaking. As far as vocals, my teenage daughter voice sounded fantastic. Very nice with female vocals. I really like my "voiceover" sound with this mic. Rich and fully, but not over bloated. As far as my singing, it handles dynamics great and, as I said, it will handle a whisper to a shout without blinking. It's not a 100% 3-dimensional and rounded like a great Neuman Old Blues Eyes mic, but it's excellent for male vocals when doing home recording. I think I got my best take (of a male vocal) when I was cranking up my delivery a bit. A little R&B shouting, and it was as good as any mic I've played with for a long time. So consider that my take of it's vocal abilties for the male voice. It's less a Leonard Cohen mic and more of a John Lennon mic. And, as I said, I really think it shines with female vocals. I didn't hear the whine as described by the other reviewer. But my recording room wasn't dead silent and the noisest thing I heard was the fan from my mac. I think you're more likely to be bugged by uncontrolled sound in your environment than any noise inherent to the mic -- if there is any. I wrote MXL and they said poor power supplies and likely user error is probably behind the claimed noise. I just know, recording music, that you just aren't going the hear it in the mix even if it does exist. I did some dead silent voiceoever again tonight, and I still didn't hear a whine. So overall, I'm very happy to recommend this mic. Make sure you get a pop screen, it helped alot. I really, really like this mic for both its performance and especially its fantastic convenience. If you don't feel like dealing with the time (and expense) of rigging up a mic and preamp and just want to "plug and play", well, I don't think you can make a better choice than his MXL .006 mic or one in its USB line. And I look forward to hearing more of the mics in their USB line.
Customer Review: Great sound! ... except for the high-pitched self-noise
I got this microphone to record voiceover narration for a video. There are points where there will only be narration, and no music or background audio. Although it sounds pretty good for a USB mic, in that it gives a rich, faithful reproduction, there is a noticeable pitch generated by the microphone itself. This self-noise is audible during quiet moments or even when speech is recorded, if you listen carefully. On the plus side, it does come with a nifty case, desktop tripod and has hardware gain control with three settings. It worked right out of the box with my Mac, so no problems in the compatibility department. I was poking around to make myself feel better about buying this microphone over the popular Samson C01U and Snowball, and came across a review of all of these microphones, including the new Rode Podcaster, pitted against each other. The reviewer noted a distinct B-natural pitch from the MXLUSB.006, though it did have less self-noise than the Samson. Check out the review at Emusician, search google for Samson, MXL, Podcaster and you should find it. Wish I saw that review before I bought the MXL, since I experienced the same thing. Though the MXL has a rich sound, the noise is unacceptable for my application and I'll be returning it. Although USB mics are notorious for noticeable self-noise, I went ahead and got the Rode Podcaster, and have not noticed any significant self-noise. If a faint high-pitched noise is not a big deal to you, this is a pretty good condenser microphone. I would be all over it if it weren't for the fact that I need a really quiet mic.

Customer Review: Great Plug and Play Sound For The Price
Just got the JWIN headset. Plug and play out of the box (Vista). Great sound too from my laptop. I have a pair of regular JWIN headphones but had to route the audio out through an amp to get adequate volume. The JBM55's play great directly from the USB port. Nice accessory for less than 25 bucks. Note: I use the mic for Dragon Naturally Speaking. For the microphone training to work with Vista, you must go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices -> Recording -> Microphone -> Properties -> Advanced and uncheck "Exclusive Mode"
